Dr Yvonne Lewis  has an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering (awarded with Honours) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and obtained her PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia. After completing her PhD in 2004, Yvonne took up a post-doctoral position at the Centre for Environmental Strategy at the University of Surrey in England. She also held positions at the African Centre for Cities at UCT, and as co-director of the Cape Urban Observatory. Yvonne has worked as a technical consultant for the last 13 years, specialising in the quantitative assessment and modelling of systems in support of strategy, policy support and scenario and futures work largely related to climate change mitigation.

Yvonne’s has helped clients across multiple sectors engage with greenhouse gas inventories and accounting,  Company and Product Carbon Footprinting, Science-based target setting, Climate Change mitigation, policy and planning, Low Carbon Economy Planning, benchmarking of industrial processes, indicators for sustainability assessment, Industrial Ecology and Cleaner Production, Urban Sustainability, Integrated Solid Waste Management planning and Life Cycle Assessment.

Yvonne is an accomplished researcher and has published a number of academic papers and book chapters as well as numerous client reports.
